The Judgment
Written by John Curbello

Becky – Christian who just died
Mike – Sinner who just died and must now face judgment
Attendant
Voice (God)

“And I saw the dead, small and great stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:12

(Mike and Becky walk out on stage. Attendant is following them)

Attendant: If you would please…wait right here. We’ll begin in just a moment.

Mike: What is goin’ on here? I mean…I know I’m dead…but what’s all this? Am I on trial or something?

Becky: Wow…this is a lot different than I thought it was going to be. I don’t get….

(Attendant walks back out onto stage carrying a large book)

Attendant: (Looking at Mike) Mike Johnson…you’re up first

Mike: First? First for what? Can you please tell me….

Attendant: Mr. Johnson…this is the Judgment. Everything you did on Earth was recorded. And now you will be judged for your actions on earth. Ms. Brown, if you would be so kind as to wait right over here. We’ll be with you shortly. Mr. Johnson, please step this way….

Mike: But I don’t get it. Why am I being Judged? I didn’t do anything.

Attendant: Oh yes Mr. Johnson…you did a lot. You’ll see…

Voice: Mike Johnson

Mike: Whoa!! Uh…yeah. That’s me. Right here.

Voice: Mike…it is time. Attendant, please play back the events of Mike Johnson’s life.

Attendant: Mr. Johnson…if you would please turn around and view the screen behind you.

(We hear sounds of a very worldly lifestyle i.e., lewd conversations with friends, lustful thoughts, badmouthing Christians, etc. All the while, Mike is making frustrated, and embarrassed faces.)

Mike: (very panicky) Wait a minute!! I did a lot of good things too…that’s not fair. You can’t just show the bad stuff I did. I did lot’s of nice things. What about all the money I donated to charities. What about all the time I spent with kids and stuff like that?

Voice: Mike…those things mean nothing if they’re done only for your glory. How many times did I try to talk to you? How many times did you turn away from me? I offered you the gift of everlasting life through the sacrifice of my son….but Mike….you would not accept my gift. Why Mike…why?

Mike: I...I thought…I umm…I don’t know. I was scared. I didn’t want everyone to think I was weird. It’s not like I didn’t believe. I just didn’t want to be “different”. You know…I always thought I would have plenty of time to accept Jesus as my savior. This isn’t fair. I’m too young to be here!!! You can’t judge me yet. I’ve got more to do….I wasn’t finished living!!!!

Voice: Attendant…please open the Lamb’s book of Life. Just see if by chance Mr. Johnson’s name is anywhere in there.

(Attendant turns page after page….)

Attendant: No Lord. It’s nowhere to be found.

(Mike looks totally panic stricken at this point. He knows what’s coming)

Mike: Oh God!! Please no!! You can’t send me to that awful place!! You know I believed in you. I just needed a little more time. Please….don’t do this!!!!!

Voice: DEPART FROM ME YE CURSED!!! PREPARED FOR THE DEVIL AND HIS ANGELS!!!

(Figures in black with scary masks on come out and torment Mike for a few seconds. They then drag him away…kicking and screaming. Becky is terrified of what she is seeing…she knows her judgment is next)

Mike: No!!! Please God No!! I’m sorry…I’m so sorry. Please!!! Noooooooooo!!!

(There is silence for a brief moment…Becky looks terrified. The attendant crosses to her.)

Attendant: Becky Brown…you’re up.

(Becky, very nervous…semi-sobbing…steps into position)

Voice: Becky Brown…It is time. Attendant, please play back the events of Becky Brown’s life.

Attendant: Ms. Brown…if you would please, turn around and face the screen.

(Becky turns around nervously…she’s terrified of what she may see)

(Voice over…will be totally pre-recorded and played back at this time)

(We hear what sounds like an altar call at a revival…the voices that we hear are those of that night’s preacher and at the time…an unsaved Becky) (Becky looks rather awestruck about the footage that she is seeing on the screen.)

Preacher: Becky…you have declared that you would like to confess Jesus as your savior?

Becky: Yes

Preacher: Then pray this prayer with me hon…Dear Jesus

Becky: Dear Jesus

Preacher: Lord, I’m sorry I’ve been a sinner.

Becky: Lord, I’m sorry I’ve been a sinner.

Preacher: Jesus…please forgive me of my sins

Becky: Jesus… please forgive me of my sins

Preacher: Thank you for dying for me on the cross

Becky: Thank you for dying for me on the cross

Preacher: Please be the Lord and Savior of my life

Becky: Please be the Lord and Savior of my life

Preacher: Thank you Jesus

Becky: Thank you Jesus

Preacher: Amen

Becky: Amen

Preacher: Welcome to the Kingdom of God honey.

(There is a brief silence)

Attendant: That’s all there is Lord. There’s nothing else to show. The rest has been wiped clean.

Voice: Attendant, please look in the Lamb’s book of Life and verify that Becky Brown’s name is in there.

(Attendant flips through the pages of the book…finally stopping on a page. Becky looks ecstatic)

Attendant: Yes Lord. Her name is right here. It’s written with your Son’s blood.

Voice: Becky…Well done my good and faithful servant. Welcome to the joy’s of your Lord.

Attendant: Right this way. (Attendant escorts Becky through door and off stage)

Attendant: (Walks back to the Book. He picks it up and shuffles about halfway through) There’s so much room left in this book. (To the audience) When your time comes…will your name be in here? (Closes Book and walks off stage)
