Sharing is Caring Adapted By Sherry Brandon (This short skit takes place in an airport. A man is sitting in a chair with his carry-on bag in the chair next to him (mimed), waiting for his flight reading a book. A woman comes in and smiles at the gentleman and he smiles back. She puts her bag on the same chair as his (also mimed) and sits one chair over. She pulls out a magazine. You can hear the airport loudspeaker and her thoughts in this skit and that is all.) LOUDSPEAKER: Flight 262 leaving for New York City is now boarding at gate 23. (Both look up when they hear, but then continue reading—as this is not their flight.) WOMAN: Boy, I’m starved. I wonder what they’re going to serve on the plane. Probably just a “snack” rather than “real” food. (remembers) Oh yeah, I bought those cookies out of the vending machine. (She reaches down and gets a cookie--mimed as she continues to read. The man also reaches down and takes a cookie--mimed. The woman gives him a funny look, but the man doesn’t notice. ) Whatever. (She passes it off and begins to read again. She takes another cookie and he does the same. She again looks annoyed…the man pays no attention. ) The nerve of some people! (Repeat the same.) OK…hurry up and call my flight for heaven sake! This guy is really getting on my nerves! (After a few more times…she takes the second to last cookie.) All right, there’s only one left. If he takes it so help me…(The man takes the cookie and breaks it in half. The woman is watching with a look. He offers the half to her with a smile and eats the other half as he goes back to his book. She is holding the cookie with a look of disbelief as they hear the loudspeaker…) LOUDSPEAKER: Flight 375 for Tucson is boarding at gate 21 and flight 497 for Las Angeles is boarding at gate 22 at this time. (The first announcement was the man’s flight as he begins to put his book away. The second was the woman’s.) WOMAN: Well, thank goodness! (She puts away her magazine and picks up her bag. As she walks away, she’s fumbling for her ticket.) Great! I thought I had my boarding pass right on top….What’s this? (She mimes pulling out a bag of cookies) Wait a minute…my cookies? If these are mine, then those must have been……(She whirls back around to the chairs, but the man is gone. She looks back at the cookies she's holding with somewhat of a regretful look.) (Optional) Speaker: Doing is nothing unless love motivates it. Loving is nothing unless doing demonstrates it. (back to the scripts page)
